HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a 54-year-old bank assistant manager suffered serious injuries after a speeding bike rammed into him while he was crossing the road on Tank Bund in Gandhinagar police limits. The mishap was recorded on CCTV and the footage has since gone viral on social networking sites.
The assistant manager flung into the air when the bike hit him, falling on to its handle. Venkateswara Rao was on his back after attending his mother’s annual death ceremony held at the Hussain Sagar lake.

Sub Inspector M Prasad said that the mishap took place a few days ago and it came to light today after a medico-legal case was registered after the CCTV footage was obtained. Venkateswara Rao and his three brothers came to Hussain Sagar lake and performed their mother’s annual death ceremony formalities.

“After finishing their work, they were returning to their residence in Nallakunta. While crossing the road on Tank Bund near Katta Maisamma temple, Venkateswara Rao was rammed by a speeding bike,’’ Sub Inspector said.

In the mishap, the bank manager fell on the handle of the bike while  Naveen, the motorist continued riding the bike. It is reported that Venkateswara Rao suffered serious injuries and is admitted to a hospital. The hospital staff informed the police about the incident. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under IPC Section 337 against Naveen, the motorist.
