HYDERABAD: Allegedly upset over her performance in the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), an 18-year-old girl from Hyderabad jumped to death from the 10th floor of a commercial complex at Abids on Tuesday.

Videos of the girl climbing the stairs and jumping from the building went viral within minutes of her death, through which her family members identified her and approached the police. The businessmen and workers at Mayur Kushal Complex in Abids were thrown into a state of shock with a girl committing suicide by jumping from the top floor of the complex.

Jasleen Kaur (18), daughter of Ranveer Singh recently completed second-year intermediate in BiPC (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) at Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Narayanaguda. She had appeared for the NEET examination to pursue MBBS.Coming across the news reports, the girl's family members approached the Kacheguda police and informed that the girl who committed suicide was Jasleen Kaur (18), a resident of Barkathpura. The Kacheguda police then passed the information to the Abids police and sent the girl's family members to Abids.

Gopi, an employee of a jewellery shop in the building said "At around 10.20 am, I heard a very loud noise. I thought an air conditioner fixed in any of the floors would have fallen. When I rushed to check, it was a girl in her teens who jumped to death. Many auto drivers have also come to the spot when I reached. They told they were shouting loud to stop the girl from jumping and one of them has even captured a video."

The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) announced the NEET results on Monday. Jasleen, who was hoping to get a good rank, went into a state of depression since Monday afternoon, Jasleen's family members told the Abids police.

Abids police recovered the body and sent it to the autopsy at Osmania General Hospital mortuary and handed over to her uncle Surender Singh. The final rites of the girl would be held at Amberpet crematorium. Jasleen's father Ranveer went to Bengaluru on some work and returned to the city on Monday night.

Her family members were also unaware of the details of the exact marks and rank secured by Jasleen. "We have to find out her results in the NEET exam from her friends," said a family member who was at the mortuary. The Abids police, in the meantime, recovered the footage from CCTV cameras installed in the complex, where Jasleen was seen climbing the stairs to go to the top-floor without being noticed by anyone.

Another video also surfaced in which Jasleen was seen crossing the railing on the terrace to jump and the auto drivers shouting at her to prevent her from committing suicide.

Ramakrishna Reddy, the Mathematics teacher at Slate School in Abids, visited the commercial complex on learning about Jasleen committing suicide. He came to find out the details of his student's death. Ramakrishna said "Jasleen was a good student. She studied at the same school from Class I to Class X, and always performed well in academics. It is a shock for us to learn about the unfortunate incident. She also got CGPA (Cumulative Grade Points Average) was over 9, in Class X."

Abids sub-inspector K Lakshmaiah said that the girl is said to have gone into depression after knowing about the NEET results. Her family members are also unaware of the exact details of the results. A case of suspicious death has been registered and further probe is on. Responding to a query, the SI said: "She left home at 8.45 am telling that she would be going to the gym near her house. But, she came to Abids on a bike and parked it in the Chirag Ali Lane and walked into the building and committed suicide."
