HYDERABAD: Depressed allegedly over EAMCET results, a 17-year-old boy hanged himself to the ceiling of his house in Alwal on Saturday. However, the police said the exact reasons for the death were to be probed.

The deceased boy identified as G S Vinay Kumar (17), a resident of Srinivasa Nagar in Alwal, recently finished intermediate and appeared EAMCET examination, for which the results were announced recently by the State government. Vinay reportedly did not secure good marks to pursue engineering in a good college and had been under depression for the last few days.

On Saturday, when his parents were away, Vinay hanged himself to the ceiling using a fan at his house. His parents who returned during evening found their son dead and alerted the Alwal police.

Alwal inspector V Srikanth Goud said, "The deceased boy's parents did not express suspicion over anything yet. The exact reasons for the boy's extreme step are to be probed. A case of suspicious death has been registered and body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for the autopsy."
