HYDERABAD: A few days after the owner of Mayur pan shop was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a woman software engineer, the Bowenpally police on Wednesday registered criminal cases against the woman and her family members for allegedly threatening the accused’s wife.

The wife lodged a complaint that software engineer Sonu Sharma, her mother Alka Sharma and another person trespassed into her residence and threatened her with dire consequences demanding money. Sonu Sharma allegedly threatened the wife to divorce her husband, who reportedly is in a relationship with the former.

On June 1, Sonu had lodged a complaint stating that she had been duped by Upender Varma on the pretext of love and marriage, and had been sexually assaulted.
