HYDERABAD: Upset with poor sanitation work being undertaken in Moosapet, GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore on Friday suspended Sampath, the Assistant Medical Officer of Health of the area. The action comes after Kishore inspected the area and found piles of garbage heaped up along the Moosapet Metro Station.

When inquired, the official failed to give a convincing reply following which he was suspended for irregularities. “It is the responsibility of the Deputy Commissioner and AMOH to address sanitation issues on a daily basis and ensure garbage is cleared and transferred on a timely basis,” Dana Kishore said.
In the 628 square kilometres under GHMC control, there are 948 Sanitary Field Assistants (SFAs) and over 18,000 sanitation workers.

Each SFA has less than one kilometre area to cover, going by this statistics. With this in mind, Commissioner Dana Kishore asked all SFAs to be careful and responsible in ensuring cleanliness in their area of coverage. GHMC clears around 4,500 metric tons of garbage on daily basis and  entire sanitation wing must ensure that no garbage is left behind on roads,” he said.
