HYDERABAD: The tussle between Chancellor Firoz Bakht Ahmed and Vice Chancellor Aslam Pervaiz of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has now reached Delhi with the former shooting off a letter to UGC chairman Dr DP Singh over the alleged irregularities on the campus.

In the detailed 15-page letter, he has accused Aslam Pervaiz and pro-VC Shakeel Ahmed of “banning the entry of the Chancellor who wanted to prop up reforms and do away with irregularities, mismanagement, corruption and sexual harassment of girls”.

The chancellor has urged the UGC chairman to intervene and instruct the VC to allow him to enter the campus. Ahmed has also alleged that the stature of the chancellor’s position has been lowered by the ongoing abuse, threat and hate campaign by the VC at the recently-held academic council meeting.
In addition to financial irregularities, he has also accused Parvaiz of appointing his relatives and friends in places of position in the university.

He said that under the current administration, the varsity has become “a victim of corruption, indolence and lack of transparency. The abysmal state of affairs at the university is bound to destroy it one day”.
He also said that his efforts to make the campus student friendly were mercilessly thwarted by the VC and instead he was accused of being an RSS man.
