Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director NVS Reddy issued on-the-spot directions on Thursday to HMR and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited officials on Thursday to speed up the work on the stretch between Haj House at Nampally and New Malaket of Miyapur-LB Nagar metro rail Corridor-I.

Following the delay in work due to certain hurdles, Reddy, accompanied by HMR and L&THMRL officials, walked from Nampally to New Malakpet and interacted with them to know the reasons first hand for the slow pace of work.

The officials brought to his notice the delay in the shifting of water and sewerage pipelines, electric poles, handing over of land for making right of way for smooth passage of traffic and other issues. After hearing them he issued specific instructions for speeding of the work.

He told Express that he walked on the road to know the kind of hurdles being faced in the execution of work as the road on which the corridor was being laid was very congested and there was need to take people into confidence for a hassle-free work. “In the past, we had inspected the road from Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar to Nampally and tried to clear the hurdles which were coming in the way of the project,” he added.

“As many as 190 pillars will be laid between Nampally and New Malakpet (5 km) and we are trying to see that they are laid immediately.

Once the foundations of pillars are laid, the remaining work can be done easier with more area of the road becoming available for vehicular traffic.”

Construction of a new government school building near Chaderghat, costing Rs 5.50 crore and funded by HMR, was nearing completion, Reddy said.
