To meet the ever increasing traffic requirements in the IT Park, Gachibowli and Nanakramguda, a suspension bridge across Durgam Cheruvu lake connecting Jubilee Hills Road No 45 and Hyderabad Knowledge City (Raidurg IT Park) has been proposed by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC).

In view of the tremendous growth in vehicular traffic due to largescale development of IT centres, work centres at Hitech City and Gachibowli areas has resulted in constant congestion on the roads leading to these areas especially Road No 36 of Jubilee Hills.

The need to provide improved connectivity to Hitech City, Financial District, Gachibowli and surrounding areas will be met with the construction of a suspension bridge, APIIC informed the government. Earlier, on May 21 chief secretary PK Mohanty and the officials concerned discussed the issue.

In this connection, APIIC had requested the  municipal administration and Urban Development (MAUD) department to constitute a steering committee with APIIC, Hyderabad  Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Tourism, GHMC, Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) to take technical, financial and other decisions for the project.

Accordingly the MAUD constituted a technical and steering committee to process the proposal. The technical committee will consist of engineer-in-chief of R&B and GHMC, chief engineers of HMDA and APIIC (convener). It  will discuss and submit the opinion recommendation for the approval of Detailed Project Report (DPR) already prepared, propose the contracting system, finalise and approve Request for Proposal (RFP) document for Expression of Interest (EOI) and pre-qualification, etc.
