Two girls studying Class X at St. Ann’s High School at Tarnaka in Secunderabad went missing after their school hours on Tuesday evening.

A case of missing was registered by the Osmania University police station after the girls’ parents lodged complaints.

Police inspector P Ashok said the two girls _ R Shruthi, daughter of Rathnavelan, and Zefra Reid, daughter of Ralph and Kim Reid _ did not board their autorickshaw after the school closed for the day. They were seen coming out of the school and entering a Xerox shop nearby but disappeared, said Kim Reid. OU police formed a search party to find the girls who are aged 15 years.

“We have no idea where our daughter might have gone. I went to the school and met the principal and others as well, but no one had a clue. I was told that Shruthi wanted to buy some dress for a sports programme, and that they may have gone out for that. But even then, it shouldn’t take them so long,” said a worried Kim who was almost in tears while narrating the incident. After waiting for a long time, she was the one who lodged a complaint with the OU police.

While Shruthi’s family resides at New Mettuguda in Secunderabad , Zefra’s family lives at New Mirzalguda in Secunderabad. Her father, Ralph Reid, said that he and his wife were clueless on where their daughter may have gone since she had never ventured out of her house without informing them before. “Everything was normal at home, and the day went on as usual. My wife made lunch for her like on any other day. We didn’t have an argument with Zefra for her to leave like that in anger,” he said.

“All efforts are on to trace the girls and the search is on right now. In case the girls are not found by Wednesday morning, we will enquire with the school management about the girls.” the inspector said when contacted late in the night.
