HYDERABAD: The Attorney General of India, Vahanvati, on Wednesday informed the State High Court that the Central government would communicate its decision on making public the schedule to the Sri Krishna Committee Report on February 17.

He was addressing Justice L Narasimha Reddy in a writ petition seeking a direction to the authorities for disclosure of  the report.

Earlier, dealing with the petition filed by a former MP stating that the schedule contained material on the law and order situation in the Telangana region, Vahanvati submitted that the writ petition was not maintainable.

He, in fact, distantly echoed the complaint of  the critics that there was no legitimacy to the Sri Krishna Committe when he said that it was only a committee submitting its advice and, since the Union government was not obliged to act on its recommendation, the writ petition was misconceived.

He, however, assured the court that he would convey the stance of the Union government on whether or not it would make public the said document on or before February 17.
