KOCHI: ‘Gurusmarana’, Guru Moozhikkulam Kochukuttan Chakyar Memorial koodiyattam festival organised by Nepathya, begins on Saturday. The four-day festival will be held at Nepathya’s koothambalam at Moozhikkulam at 6.30 pm.
The festival is being organised on the first death anniversary of Koodiyattom exponent Muzhikkulam Kochukuttan Chakyar, who was the acharya of Nepathya. The festival will stage relevant scenes from the first, third and seventh act of ‘Ascharya Choodamani’ choreographed by him. Prabandha Koothu will also be staged by Ammannur Kuttan Chakyar.
In connection with the festival, the annual commemorative lecture series will also be launched.
The inaugural lecture will be delivered by N Ajayakumar on ‘Contemporary subsistence of classical art forms and elitism.’ The festival will be inaugurated by Venu G, secretary, Ammanur Gurukulam.
Senior Government Pleader advocate M P Sreekrishnan will preside over the function. P N R Pisharody of EMS Memorial Library will pay homage to the maestro. Parakadavu grama panchayat president Jisha Sreedharan and Margi Madhu will also attend the function. Ammannoor Kuttan Chakyar will present the ‘Prabandha Koothu’ at 7.30 pm.
On Sunday, koodiy a t t o m ‘ P a r n a - salankam’ will be staged at 6.30 pm with Margi Madhu as Lakshmana and Indu G as Lalitha. On Monday, Nepathya Rahul, Nepathya Saneesh, Nepathya Vishnuprasad, Margi Raman, Margi Usha and Nepathya Yadukrishnan will s t a g e ‘ M a y a - seethankam.’ on Tuesday, ‘Agnipravesankam’ will be presented by Margi Narayanan, Margi Sathi, Margi madhu, Nepathya Vishnuprasad and Nepathya Yadukrishnan.
