KOCHI: I climbed and climbed Where is the peak, my Lord?

I ploughed and ploughed, Where is the knowledge treasure, my Lord?

I sailed and sailed, Where is the island of peace, my Lord?

Almighty, bless my nation With vision and sweat resulting into happiness

These words of wisdom penned by former President A P J Abdul Kalam will soon find place in an album by a Kerala-based youth gang. The theme song of the album featuring the former President’s lyrics will be released this Independence Day. The entire album will feature around 30 songs from various Indian languages.

“We sent a mail to Kalam requesting for his poetry. He sent two poems the very next day. When I was a student I had once painted a picture of Kalam and sent it to him. At that time he had replied to me in a post card. He might not remember it but this worked as an inspiration behind the idea,” one of the coordinators of the album Jibin George Sebastian said.

“The album is aimed at igniting the spirit of Indian youth to fight against terrorism and social evils. The other lyrics for the songs are sourced from social networking sites with the contribution of college students. We have got sponsors for the album. We ourselves pooled in for the theme song. The proceeds will go for charity,” Jibin said.

The theme song will be released on August 15 on the website www.beatofindia.com.

The album is initiated by Musical Mist and KR Music. The four coordinators are Jibin George Sebastian, Krishna Raaj Kumar, Sajeev Sarathie and Vinod Bhavnani.
