CBSE fest concludes,Thrissur emerges champs

Thrissur district emerged champions at the 18th CBSE State Youth Festival which concluded here on Saturday.

Thrissur district which maintained the lead throughout the fest, secured 4,844 points. Ernakulam with 4,200 points was adjudged the runners-up. Kozhikode with 1,004 points stood third.  Roweena James of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Port Trust, Kochi, bagged the Kalathilakam title and Sachin Ravindran of Nirmala Matha Central School, Thrissur, won the Kalapratibha title. Roweena who had clinched the title in 2010 too came first with A grade in mohiniyattam, bharatanatyam, kuchipudi and monoact. Sachin bagged first in monoact, mimicry and light music and second in mappilappattu and A grade in classical music.

 Rani Public school, Chandrappini with 573 points retained the overall championship for the fourth consecutive time. It was followed by S N Vidyabhavan, with 555 points and IES Public School came third with 520 points.

 Actor Kavya Madhavan who inaugurated the valedictory function presented trophies to the triumphant schools and individual winners. Over 5,000 students participated in the four-day festival organised by Kerala CBSE Schools Management Association. The festival held at Sarabhai Science Park in Kakkanad, concluded on Saturday.  In the lower primary category, Lemer Public School, Thriprayar, stood first with 57 points and Nirmala Matha School, Thrissur, with 55 points, came second. In the upper primary category, Rani Public School, Vadakara, won the first with 134 points and Holy Grace Academy, Mala, with 124 points, bagged the second position.

 In the high school category, Rani Public School bagged first place with 228 points, while SN Vidya Bhavan, Chandrappini,came second. In the higher secondary section, Rani Public School with 161 points came first and SN Vidya Bhavan, Chandrappini, came second with 156 points.
