10 shortlisted for Navy Queen Pageant

Ten women from across the country have been shortlisted for the finals of the ‘Navy Queen Beauty Pageant 2012’. The preliminary rounds were held at the Southern Naval Command here on Saturday. The contestants will vie with each other for the Navy Queen title during the finals to be held at the Navy Ball on December 21.
A total of 21 contestants participated in the prelims which consisted of two rounds - introduction and question and answer. At the introduction round, the participants clad in dazzling saris, introduced themselves and briefed their reasons for participating in the event. The question and answer session saw the ladies clad in Western casuals, tackling tricky questions from the judges.
In the days ahead the shortlisted contestants will be groomed by personality trainers, choreographers, designers, hair and make-up stylists and photographers. Attractive and expensive prizes await the winners this year. The winner would get a cash prize of `1 lakh, gifts worth `1.25 lakh from Sunny Diamonds and tickets for two persons to Dubai. The first runner-up will win a cash prize worth `75,000, gifts worth ` 1 lakh from Sunny Diamonds and tickets for two persons to Male. The second runner-up will win a prize money of `50,000, gifts worth `75,000 from Sunny Diamonds and tickets for two persons to Male.
