Dharani school to hold silver jubilee fete

As part of its silver jubilee celebration, Dharani School of Performing Arts will hold a three-day-long festival beginning Friday.

The celebrations will commence at Kerala Fine Arts Hall with Bharatanatyam performance by the founder-cum-principal of Upahar School Of Dance (London), Shalini Shivashankar and her daughter Pallavi Anand, at 6.30 pm on Friday.

Musician Karaikudi S Subramanian will conduct a symposium on the topic ‘Music Education for Everyone’ at 9.30 am on Saturday. Traditional Chhau (Martial) dance forms of Jharkand, Orissa and West Bengal, will be performed at 6.30 pm under the leadership of artist Shashadhar Acharya.  A team of 27 artists will perform Seraikella Chhau (Jharkand), Mayurbhanj Chhau (Orissa) and Purulia Chhau (West Bengal), in association with the Sangeet Natak Akademi.Shashadhar Acharya will conduct a speech about the Chhau dance forms at 10 am on Sunday. The evening will see students of Dharani School performing in a music concert, followed by bhajans and the release of the Silver Jubilee Souvenir ‘Dhwani 2012’.
