Women for a noble cause

In order to expand their charity services to more needy hands, the Vrindavan Residence Association in Jawahar Nagar, Elamkulam has formed a Women’s Wing on Sunday. Soumini Jain, Chairperson of the Works Standing Committee, inaugurated the function.

“In the colony we have more than 50 families residing and many of them are individually engaged in voluntary charity activities. We formed the wing to channelise their activities, so that it would be more effective and focused,” says C R Anoop, treasurer, residents association.

There are 30 members in the wing and as a first step, the women’s wing will be conducting a free-eye donation camp on December 30. “They are also planning to donate medicine and food to the cancer ward of General Hospital as part of their next programme,” says Anoop.

Jayashree Rajagopal (president), Sreelekha Anoop (general secretary) and Geetha (treasurer) are the office bearers of the wing.

Councillor Sojan Antony felicitated the event, while the presidential address was by association president Hameed Kunju.
