In what is being read as a mark of protest against the KCA, Union Minister Shashi Tharoor watched the ODI on an ordinary gallery ticket. MLA Hibi Eden gave company to the Minister in the gallery.

Last month, Tharoor had sparked off a controversy after he criticised KCA for its lapses, following the disruption of Duleep Trophy final between North Zone and South Zone, owing to a wet ground following heavy rain. “The KCA has brought disgrace to the state with two major matches being washed out. Who benefited from Rs.8 crore spent on the drainage system,” the Minister wrote on Twitter.

KCA office-bearers hit back at Tharoor saying that the total cost of setting up a drainage system at the stadium was just Rs. 1 crore and not Rs. 8 crore. They also said no funds from the state exchequer was spent at the stadium and the only way out was a stadium owned and operated by the KCA.

It is learnt that Tharoor who booked gallery ticket through online, was not invited by the KCA.
