ICSI Kerala Office Opened

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has opened its Kerala office in Kochi. After inaugurating the facility the other day, ICSI president C S Ananthasubramanian said they have decided to select Kochi for opening the office after considering the development initiatives launched by the state for the city and also considering the fast development of Kochi as a major business hub of the country.
“The prime aim of ICSI House is to act as a centre of excellence by providing seminars and workshops on the new Companies Act 2013 and also providing high quality education and training,” he said.
He said that the main aim of Companies Act 2013 was to ensure corporate governance, transparency and strict compliance.
“As per the new Act, a Company secretary is not only a key position, but also envisages him as the in-house counsel of a firm. The inaugural meeting was presided over by ICSI Kochi Chapter chairman K Jayan. A special session on the Companies Act 2013, was followed by the inauguration led by ICSI central council member R Sreedharan. The seminar was attended by Chartered Accountants, Cost Management Accountants, other professional and students.
