KOCHI: District secretariat members of the CPM on Sunday signed a consent letter for organ donation.
The consent letter was handed over to noted cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Jose Chacko Periappuram at a function held at Lenin Centre, which is headquarters of the party, here on Sunday.
A copy of the letter will be exhibited permanently at the district secretary’s room at the Centre to inspire visitors and party men to donate organ. “The consent letter will send a good message to society. Donating organ to save the life of another person is a noble act.
One should inform relatives and friends about one’s desire to donate organ,” said Dr Jose Chacko Periappuram. CPM district secretary P Rajeeve honoured Dr Jose Chacko, who is a pioneer in heart transplantation in the State, by draping a shawl.
