Pesticide-free Veggies for Techies

KOCHI:As part of the mission of ‘Transforming Lives’, UST Global supported the setting up of a Onam special stall at Kochi Infopark, from where employees can buy pesticide free vegetables this Onam season.

The stall was inaugurated by Sunil Balakrishnan, global head center

operations of UST Global. The initiative attempts to ensure the availability of fresh and safe-to-eat vegetables to all technology professionals working in different companies at Infopark. Employees can pre-book their vegetables through the website www.farmersfz.com.

Sunil Balakrishnan, global head - center operations of UST Global, said, “We, at UST Global, recognise this initiative by Farmersfz to promote pesticide free farming as well as provide the produce to technology professionals. This is an example for how technology can be used for the benefit for the society. Farmersfz connects farmers directly to consumers  without middlemen, thereby giving farmers & consumers the maximum benefit. It also  provides convenience to consumers as it reaches them after office hours.”

UST Global is supporting the event under its ‘Code for Humanity’ programme which is aimed  at supporting and strengthening social initiatives through technology.

Farmersfz is the brainchild of Pradeep, a 27-year-old IT professional, who came up with the  idea of connecting farmers directly with professionals at the Infopark with the help of an online platform.
