KOCHI: Goethe-Zentrum, the German cultural institution promoting the study of German language and encouraging international cultural exchange and relations worldwide began its operations in Kochi. The Goethe-Zentrum, Kochi functioning opposite to the Lotus Club in Warriam Road was inaugurated by
Christoph Bertrams, director, Goethe-Institut/ Max Muller Bhavan, Bangalore. Andrea Christ, Deputy Consul General, Federal Republic of Germany in Bangalore delivered the keynote address.
G Vijayaraghavan, member - Kerala State Planning Board presided over. Tony Chammany, Mayor and B Bhadra, deputy mayorr delivered special address. Syed Ibrahim, director - Goethe Zentrum, welcomed the delegates.
The inaugural function was followed by Indo-German concert by the famous tablist Florian Schiertzdrummer, drummer Wolfram Winkel and violinist Swetha Sivan.
The Goethe-Zentrum, Kochi has the same, state-of-the-art facilities to learn German language courses as per the norms laid out by the
European Framework of Reference for Languages. Classes are scheduled to begin here from March 2 onwards. The Goethe-Zentrum in Kochi will also bring quality cultural and art programs and projects to Kochi.
