Shyam Benegal Opens All Lights Film Festival

KOCHI: Filmmaker Shyam Benegal inaugurated the All Lights India International Film Festival at Le Meridien Hotel, here on Sunday. The presence of actor Mohanlal, B Unnikrishnan, FEFKA general secretary, directors Kamal, Sathyan Anthikad, actress Manju Warrier and others gave a boost to it. The inaugural film ‘Taxi’ (Iranian) was screened at Cinepolis. ‘Kadhakar’ was screened under the competition category and ‘General Luna’ in the world cinema category and both   received much critical appreciation from the audience. The festival was also a platform for the launch of a first of its kind concept - film market. The organisers said the initiative would help in the comprehensive revamp of the country’s film industry.
