Mahipal Yadav Takes Charge as IG

KOCHI: Mahipal Yadav IPS on Monday took charge as the new Inspector General of Police, Kochi Range.   Mahipal, who arrived at the office around 11.00 am, was welcomed by IG M R Ajith Kumar who was transferred to the Trissur Range last week.

Mahipal.jpgEarlier, Mahipal has been serving as IG, Internal Security Wing. A 1997-batch IPS officer of the Kerala cadre, who hails from Alwar, was on deputation with the CBI for a long time before returning to the parent cadre last year.

During his stint in the CBI, Mahipal headed the team that probed the AgustaWestland VVIP Helicopter scam. He was also part of the team that conducted inquiry into the assets of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. He is recipient of the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service (2013).

After returning to the parent cadre last year, Mahipal was appointed as managing director of the Kerala Beverages Corporation. Later, he served as the Thiruvananthapuram IG.
