Entries Invited for Short Film Awards

The winning director of the short film will get a chance to assist one of the jury members in their next movie.

KOCHI: The Eastern Chemmeen International Short Film Awards-2016, organised by the Global Initiative for Excellence (GIE), has invited entries for competition.  “Short films are the current rage among both young and elderly citizens across the world. Besides appealing to these target groups, the medium has another focus category to deal with - transgender issues,” said GIE executive director Joe A Scaria at press conference here. The Award has been constituted in honour of ‘Chemmeen,’ the all-time classic movie that recently celebrated its golden jubilee.

The Best Film will receive a cash prize of `1 lakh. The other awards are Best Actor/Actress, Best Director, Best Editor, Best Cinematography, Best Script and Popular Film. The Popular Award will be selected by the audience through social media. An attractive incentive is that the winning director will get a chance to assist one of the jury members in their next movie.

Contestants should submit their entries only online. The entry form is available on www.reelmonk.com/chemmmeen16.

The last date for submitting entries is May 9, 2016. There is a fee of Rs 1,000 per entry.
