Reverting to the eternal love story

The celebrated love between Radha and Krishna finds a new voice in young writer Sanghamithra

KOCHI: Sanghamithra, the young writer who had penned two books previously, has come out with her third book, ‘Radha-Krishna Prem’, re-telling a story of sacred love. An ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, Sanghamithra grew up listening to the tales and adventures of the mythological hero.

The fourteen-year-old writer has twice showcased her talents with the release of ‘Krishna in Vrindavan’ and ‘The Mysterious Love of Meerabai’ in which she narrates the sprightly life of Balagopal and the eternal love of Meerabai.

“This time, I have chosen a self narrative style rather than the ordinary way of narrating a story,” says Sanghamithra. The book speaks from two perspectives - Radha, who shares her feelings for Mukunda to her friends, and Krishna, who bares his heart to Arjuna. “It’s a dual narrative that portrays the bliss of sacred love in such a way that it brightens up the whole theme”, adds the author.
The love story of Radha and Krishna is a time cherished one. Just a day before getting married, the unscrupulous sword of fate separated the duo. This makes for the plot of her third literary creation that was published on Decemeber 10th, released by the renowned Hindi language author Narendra Kohli. Justice K. Sukumaran received the first copy.

“My mother helps me with choosing concepts and she points out the thread for the story. I’ve had a passionate love affair with books ever since I was a child. Both Chetan Bhagat’s crowd pleasing style and Shakespeare’s dramatic style are equally appealing to me”, says the young writer.
“She has nurtured a fondness for Krishna from the age of three. Her reading habits helped her a lot in her writing”, says Nikhila

Govind, Sanghamithra’s mother. Apart from writing, Sanghamithra has oratory skills, and she often renders speeches and talks for Balagokulam programs.
All her three books are published by Avanty Publications. The young author who has managed consecutive releases, however, cannot promise one in the coming year as she wants to focus on her studies. ‘Krishna in Vrindavan’ was a big success, and its second edition has already sold out. ‘The Mysterious Love of Meerabai’ is also touted to be a success. ‘Radha-Krishna Prem’, the brand new novella with expectations riding high, costs Rs 90.
