Bus stir: Demands accepted

KOCHI: The indefinite strike called by employees of private buses operating along the Paravur-Vypeen route seemingly yielded positive results with District Collector Mohammed Y Safeerulla directing the district labour department on Thursday to implement the fare wages system as demanded by the employees.
Safeerulla issued the order in a meeting he convened at his office. His decision came after the bus employees discarded his suggestion of increasing their wages by `190 a day, even after bus owners agreed to provide the same.

On October 15 employees providing services to around 230 buses along the Paravur-Vypeen route launched an indefinite strike demanding implementation of the fare wage system.
