Tax payers urged to enrol in GST database

A ‘migration fair’ will be conducted at the Central Excise Bhavan at Kathrikkadavu from April 17 to 21 to provide facilities for tax payers to enrol themselves in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) data

KOCHI: A ‘migration fair’ will be conducted at the Central Excise Bhavan at Kathrikkadavu from April 17 to 21 to provide facilities for tax payers to enrol themselves in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) database.

As part of implementation of GST from July 1, the Union Government had instructed all tax payers in the country to register themselves under the system before March 31. But, with some tax payers failing to register, the Centre has asked the regional Offices of the Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax to provide them with facilities to enrol by April end. Service Tax Chief Commissioner Pullela Nageswara Rao will inaugurate the fair on Monday. It is mandatory for every person with annual turnover of over `20 lakh to get registered.
