Making international destination weddings a reality

KOCHI: Beautifully decorated halls, traditional food delicacies, this is what defines Rainmaker Wedding Planners which has grown to be the favourite planners from Kerala. This Wedding Planner organisation recently won two awards for the ‘Best Bride and Groom Grand Entry’ at the Global Indian Wedding Awards (GIWA) held as part of the International Convention for Wedding Fraternity in Delhi, to appreciate the efforts of wedding and event planners in the country.

The Cochin based event and wedding planning venture, founded in 2011, won silver in the ‘Best Bride and Groom Grand Entry’ category for two destination weddings in Ambalappuzha and Thailand respectively. The grand entry at the destination wedding in Ambalappuzha boasted of a grand entry in a calvacade of Royal Enfield Bullets , Range Rovers and Volkswagon with a fusion of traditional Kerala dance forms. The grand entry for the destination wedding in Phuket, Thailand , hosted a Lana Parade with Sabad Chai Drum performers, a celebratory dance in Thailand and a procession of the bridesmaids and groomsmen with around 500 guests and 80 crew members for the three day wedding.

“We have been receiving numerous queries for conducting weddings at exotic destinations. It is a learning experience where we as wedding planners  have evolved to be at par with our international players.The award committee specially mentioned the efforts taken by wedding planners from India to hold destination weddings at international destinations”, said Joel John , the mastermind of Rainmaker Wedding Planners.
Rainmakers managed wedding of a Mumbai-based couple recently in Bali. This was a close-knit family affair where only the immediate family and friends participated.

The two-day wedding had four events based on four different themes and venues. The Balinese themed Mehendi was held on a private cruise, the Hawaiian themed Sangeet was held in a Balinese structured Kupu-kupu amphitheater, the South Indian themed wedding on a cliff top Golf course and a Gatsby themed wedding reception at the Hilton Bali ballroom.

Rainmaker Wedding Planners were ranked fourth in the Best Destination Wedding International held in July, 2016 recognised as the first Malayali destination wedding in Phuket ,Thailand. This recognition was received for the first Malayalee destination wedding held in Phuket in 2016.
