DATA launches new dealers’ consortium to benefit small dealers

KOCHI: To withstand competition from big retailers of home appliances, the Dealers of Association of TV and Appliances (DATA) has started a new consortium named Dealers Digital Shoppe (DDS) which will provide home appliances to dealers at attractive prices.

DDS currently has around 210 members and is expecting a turnover of  Rs 100 crore by the end of the Onam season which accounts for nearly 55 per cent of the annual sale of home appliances. The annual turnover achieved from sale of home appliances in the state is more than 2,000 crore.

“DDS aims to benefit small home appliance dealers in Kerala. As big retailers are providing attractive price schemes, small retailers are facing business-related difficulties,” said DATA president and DDS chairman Rajasekharan Pillai.

“Dealers can make the prices attractive on the basis of the number of units sold. Small retailers can sell units in limited numbers. So, we launched DDS, an umbrella company of small retailers,” he said.
