MUVATTUPUZHA: The audience was motionless when the curtain came down at stage 8 at Nirmala HSS after the conclusion of the drama titled ‘Meen’ (Fish). They seemed to be mesmerised by the performance of the students of St Joseph’s HSS, Karukutty. As predicted by the audience, the drama was declared the winner and qualified for the state-level competition. Its story revolved around a couple whose life depended on fishing. Though Kausalya and her husband led a normal life, her blind faith in godmen turned their life into a complex one.

Soon, their relationship with their neighbours also worsened with Kausalya getting more and more addicted to godmen. This also dragged her into a lot of issues. It was after the godman was caught by the police for stealing coconuts, Kausalya came to understand the real meaning of the godman culture. The story concluded by leaving a message that love and tryst among the people are more important than a culture revolving around divinities.

The story also urges people to love each other instead of loving animals. This is the third consecutive time St Joseph GHSS, Karukutty, is emerging the winner in the drama competition in the high school category. The use of property and sound mixing also helped  St Joseph to script history.
