Court orders quick verification ordered against TELK MD, 10 others

KOCHI: The Vigilance Court, Muvattupuzha, on Thursday ordered quick verification (QV) against top officers of Transformers And Electricals Kerala Ltd (TELK), Angamaly, over the alleged irregularities in granting salary hike to its employees. The court has ordered probe against 11 persons, including TELK managing director B Prasad and company secretary Josy George.The court in its order directed the VACB to file the report before January 22, 2018, after conducting QV. The anti-corruption court directed to conduct probe following a complaint filed by Aluva native K M Dominic. 

As per the complaint, the company decided to give salary hike to its officers in 2016 with dues starting from September 2011. The directive was passed by the board without getting the government's permission. Following this, the officers started getting revised salary from 2017. However, the government decided against the board’s recommendation forcing the company to withdraw the salary hike. Later, a decision was taken to reclaim the additional salary given.

In the complaint, TELK managing director B Prasad was mentioned as the first respondent followed by company secretary George, senior finance manager Ajith Kumar, former managing director Arun Kumar and former finance head S V Ganapathy Iyer. Former TELK chairman V Somasundar, directors T O Sooraj, A K Radha, G Indhu, Sudheer Arya and S V Singh are the other respondents, who will face the probe.
