THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The school authorities misread a friendly hug and they have been unleashing a false campaign against us, said the boy. Speaking of his ordeal to Express, he said, “It was just a congratulatory hug and it wasn’t done in some shady place. The school authorities gave a sexual twist to it. For the past five months, I have been kept out of school. Although they said I would get a fair trial, it wasn’t so. My response to all the charges they levied against us was not taken into account and they gave a chargesheet painting us as having indulged in an indecent act.

The harassment I had to suffer had no bounds. Rajan Varghese, secretary of Mar Thoma Church Education Society secretary which runs the schoolsaid it was people like me who end up as rapists.”  The boy said the school authorities started a virulent campaign against the girl and him.

The school authorities hacked into his private Instagram account and took screenshots of their pictures together and circulated them. “My friend who tried to get admission at another school following this incident had to face hostility as they had already seen these pictures,” he said.

“I cannot afford to lose a year and I am studying hard even in these trying times to appear for the board exam. I am a law aspirant and I intend to crack the CLAT and join the National Law School,” he said.
