Kerala HC moved against disruption of classes in law college

A student of Ernakulam Law College has filed a petition before the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the principal to solicit the help of police to conduct classes.

KOCHI: A student of Ernakulam Law College has filed a petition before the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the principal to solicit the help of police to conduct classes.

Classes have been disrupted at Law College due to strikes by students’ unions in connection with the Law Academy issue. N Prakash, a first-semester student, in his petition stated the principal was unable to take steps to ensure smooth conduct of classes at the college.

“The Bar Council of India stipulates 36 class-hours per week and mandates a minimum of 30 lecture-hours per week for Honours courses. Ever since classes started for the semester-I BCom LLB course on November 23, 2016, several classes were lost due to various non-academic activities by students’ unions,” said the petition.
