KOCHI: The Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Saturday sent Pulsar Suni and Vijeesh, the main accused in the sexual assault case involving a Malayalam actor, to police custody for ten days. The court has directed the police to return the accused to judicial custody on March 5. The prosecution said crucial evidence in the case, including the mobile phone allegedly used by the accused to record the victim’s video, were yet to be collected.

“Investigation is progressing to unveil the conspiracy behind the case,” stated the prosecution. Opposing the custody application, counsel for the accused argued the Chief Minister who  also holds the Home portfolio had said it was a ‘plot hatched by the main accused.’ The counsel claimed there was no need to investigate the conspiracy angle.

The court said the courtroom was not a place to make political statements, and the court will consider only legally valid statements. The court will consider the bail application submitted by Suni and Vijeesh on Tuesday. The two accused were arrested from the Ernakulam ACJM Court on Thursday.
