KOCHI: Kochi-based Great Indian Knowledge Initiatives Limited, promoted by a group of young educational entrepreneurs led by N K Sajiv Menon, a technocrat- turned edupreneur with two decades of experience, will launch six schools, including an international school, in the state in the first phase, which will last three years.

The first school will be opened this month in Kannur. “The  other schools will be coming up in Thrissur, Palakkad, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram, while the international school will  be opened in Kochi, which has been selected for the Central Government’s Smart City project,” said Menon. The international school will start functioning from 2018.

It is planned to launch Great Indian Schools at five of the nine AMRUT cities and the Great Indian International School (GIIS) in Kochi. At the national level, there are plans to open 100 schools in AMRUT cities and 20 schools in select smart cities.

Sajiv Menon claimed the schools will be unique by focusing on the illustrious system of modern education rooted in values. “We aim to create adorable personalities, who derive inspiration from the great sons and daughters of India who had acquired timeless glory for our country,” he said.

These schools will have facilities of international standards and are meant to be mostly residential. GIIS schools will follow the CBSE International (CBSE-i) curriculum offered by the CBSE Board, said Menon.
GIIS have been planned keeping in mind with the requirement of NRIs who may require transfer of their wards to other countries.

Great Indian Schools envisage a unique campus that provides the right environment for complete learning, with amenities including inspirational domes, knowledge spaces, WiFi-campus, smart digital boards, audio visual labs and TPS app software, among others, he said.

“But beyond these, what we want to achieve ultimately is value communes inculcating our time-tested ideals, with green campuses, organic farming and world-class extracurricular activities,”  Menon added.Menon has founded more than 15 educational institutions in India and abroad.
