KOCHI: Founders of Kochi-based Transight Systems are on a celebratory mood these days. The reason: the revenue for their startup has just crossed Rs 1 crore-mark, an amazing growth of 400 per cent in the last two years!

What makes the startup significant is its product ‘Guardians’, an app to protect school kids by tracking their location live. Unlike, other fancy apps that are good on paper but fail to get customers, this app is finding early adapters too -  a big confidence booster for the youngsters behind Transight Systems.

Yes, this useful startup idea - given the growing crimes and accidents in the state and elsewhere - has also come up from millennials fresh from the college. Firoz Rehman and Jis George, along with their classmates at Mar Athanasious College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, which has signed up with Rajagiri Schools, Kalamassery, already has a subscriber base of 4000 students. “About 1,400 students are actively using this App,” says Firoz, who, along with Jis, holds majority stake in the startup. The remaining stake is held by their five other college mates.

“GPS tracking is our core focus, and we are building products around this,” says Firoz, who’s the CEO of Transight Systems. He informs that the four-year-old startup is in negotiations with a school in Oman to introduce the app for its students there. “The school in Oman has been doing the trials, and we hope to win the contract,” he informs. Similarly, Transight is also in talks with 3-4 schools here including Naipunnya Public School, Kakkanad, for introducing the ‘Guardians’ app.
