Kochi to host 2 matches of blind cricket tourney

Kochi has been selected as one of the venues of the second T20 Blind Cricket World Cup to be held from January 29 to February 12 across the country.

KOCHI: Kochi has been selected as one of the venues of the second T20 Blind Cricket World Cup to be held from January 29 to February 12 across the country.

Apart from Kochi, tournaments will be held in New Delhi, Faridabad, Indore, Mumbai, Gujarat, Bengaluru, Cuttack and Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from India, teams from Australia, Bangladesh, England, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies will be participating in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup. A total of 48 matches will be played in the tournament, including semi finals and the final.

Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid is the brand ambassador for the T20 Bind Cricket World Cup. Ajay Reddy will be leading the 17-member Indian squad, who have been undergoing training in Indore. The Indian team includes Kerala Blind Cricket team captain Mohammed Farhan also.

“In Kochi, matches will be held on February 5 and 6 at Rajagiri College Ground, Kakkanad -  India vs Australia and Australia vs Sri Lanka, respectively,” said Cricket Association for the Blind in India vice-president Rajaneesh Henry.
