Moulavi’s mysterious death: CBI files closure report in case

The CBI has closed the investigation into the mysterious death of C M Abdulla Moulavi, a spiritual leader in North Kerala, for the second time. 

KOCHI: The CBI has closed the investigation into the mysterious death of C M Abdulla Moulavi, a spiritual leader in North Kerala, for the second time.  The agency filed the closure report in the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Tuesday.

An officer at the Thiruvananthapuram unit of the CBI, which probed the case, said the result of the second investigation supported the earlier finding that Abdulla Moulavi had committed suicide.

“Though all the aspects of possible homicide or accident were closely examined, no relevant evidence emerged.

In 2013, the CBI had filed a closure report at the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, claiming that Abdulla Moulavi had committed suicide due to depression. In February 2016. the court ordered further investigation into the incident, citing flaws in the earlier investigation. The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court will hear the petitioner and the CBI before accepting the closure report.
