Maharaja’s principal N L Beena transferred to Thalassery

The principlal will be succeeded by Koduvally Government College principal Ajitha P S. 

KOCHI: After a tumultuous tenure at Maharaja’s College, principal N L Beena has been transferred to Government Brennan College, Thalassery. She will be succeeded by Koduvally Government College principal Ajitha P S. 

Maharaja’s College was in the news for all the wrong reasons during Beena’s tenure. The campus witnessed several untoward incidents such as the burning of the principal’s chair by students, factional feud among teachers and closure of the hostel. Probing the torching of incident, the deputy director of Collegiate Education had recommended the state government to initiate action against the principal.

The report recommended it will not be fine for the principal and two teachers of the Department of Malayalam to serve on the same campus.According to the commission, the ‘stubborn attitude’ of the principal triggered the burning of the chair early this year. It was also found she had failed to take a diplomatic decision to defuse the tension in the campus. 

“It was the stubborn attitude of the principal of Maharaja’s College that led to the incident of the burning of the principal’s chair in the campus early this year,” the report said.
