KOCHI: The currency exchange racket busted by the Shadow Police the other day had exchanged more than `15 crore worth of demonetised currency notes, the cops have found.
The examination of the documents seized from the accused person’s house at Muvattupuzha after the arrest revealed this. The accused first collected the demonetised notes from those stuck with it and gave the notes to anyone who paid at least `20 lakh for `1 crore worth of banned currency notes.

The cops said an inquiry has been launched to find the persons who exchanged the banned currency notes from the gang. Five persons of the gang had been arrested by a team led by Shadow Police SI Honey K Das on Saturday with `2.3 crore worth of demonetised currency notes after posing as customers.
