KOCHI: The Dharani school of performing arts will celebrate its 30th anniversary as a year long festival. The inaugural programme will be held on June 23.
The three day event will showcase preformances including Bharatanatyam by Radhe Jaggi,Odissi by Sujatha Mohaptra and various other music and dance performances by the students of Dharani. Shyamala Surendran, the founder of Dharani, aims to change the society’s attitude towards performing arts and bring back dance into the mainstream.
“Even though the folk music in Kerala is highly appreciable,they are currently under-rated due to lack of efficient marketing. Another objective is to redirect the young artists from youth festivals towards a much rewarding platform,” she added.
