KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Monday sought to know the stance of the CBI on taking over the investigation of the death of actor Kalabhavan Mani.
The court issued the directive on a petition filed by Mani’s brother K R Ramakrishnan, seeking CBI probe into the death.

Earlier, the government had submitted before the court there was nothing suspicious about Mani’s death, and ruled out the possibility of poisoning. The government said Mani’s financial dealings, his links with certain gangs and conduct of his regular visitors and  suspected enemies were thoroughly probed. It was also submitted that Mani’s behaviour in the days prior to his death indicated he might not have committed suicide.
Meanwhile, the police are awaiting a medical report on whether Mani’s death was caused by the combined effect of the multiple ailments he was suffering from.
