SRRF cadets undergo training

As many as 62 cadets of Student Rapid Response Force(SRRF) on Tuesday visited the Southern Naval Command as part of training.

KOCHI: As many as 62 cadets of Student Rapid Response Force(SRRF) on Tuesday visited the Southern Naval Command as part of training. The team was taken around the Joint Operations Centre, Kochi and was briefed on the disaster management. They were given practical training on how to operate a fire engine.  The students were familiarised with the role of divers during disasters, by the Naval Command Clearance Diving Team and were also given a demonstration-cum-training session on nuclear biological chemical damage control, including fire fighting at  the Damage Control Training Facility ‘Avinash’ available at the Naval Base.

SRRF is a new disaster management wing created on the initiative of the District Collector, Kozhikode, to increase awareness levels among students in the field of disaster mitigation and  risk management. The students have been inducted as part of the first phase and have attended a training camp under the aegis of Territorial Army, Kannur, NDRF, Fire Force, Police, District Medical Team and Disaster Management Wing.
