KOCHI: The public will soon be able to relish the beauty of sea with the Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) planning to launch a luxury cruise ship. The vessel ‘Nefergity’ is expected to reach the Kochi backwaters by the end of this year.

“Not everyone can go to the sea and explore its beauty. But, it will soon become a reality as we are all set to launch a cruise vessel equipped to venture into the sea. Around 60 per cent of the construction of the vessel has been completed and we hope it will be ready for conducting service by this year end,” said KSINC MD Tom Jose.

The Vijay Marine Yard in Goa is constructing the vessel at a cost of `16 crore. The vessel, with a seating capacity of over 200 people, is also equipped with theatre, auditorium, upper dock and mid-dock.

The KSINC is yet to fix the price for a trip. “It will come to around `1,500 per head. We haven’t decided the exact price. It will be announced later,” Tom Jose said.
