Rape charges levelled against K C Venugopal

Charges of rape have been raised against Alappuzha MP and Congress leader K C Venugopal in the Sivarajan commission report.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Charges of rape have been raised against Alappuzha MP and Congress leader K C Venugopal in the Sivarajan commission report. According to the report, Saritha S Nair had stated before the commission she had approached Venugopal who was a MoS for Power to apply for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Channel's partnership. Relevant documents and bribe as demanded by him had been handed over to his driver Nagarajan at the residence of the Minister in Alappuzha.

When Saritha visited the Minister at Alappuzha and New Delhi to invite him to inaugurate Team Solar's Energy Mart, he allegedly insulted her modesty. The Commission Witness (CW)Volume X is about the lust and brutal behaviour of Venugopal. The letter was given in a sealed cover to the commission.

Also, the commission has pointed out there had been telephonic communication between Venugopal and Saritha 57 times between June 14, 2012 and May 30, 2013. The commission also stated Venugopal had admitted the fact when the CDR was shown to him.
