KOCHI: Do you have an inquisitive mind with an interest in a wide range of topics? If yes, iQuiz is for you. It is a new forum which has been launched in the capital to encourage quiz fans. Launched in mid-October, iQuiz Trivandrum chapter has around 35 active members who are of different ages and from different backgrounds. iQuiz is an initiative of Kozhikode-based Quiz Kerala and is claimed to be the first registered quiz society in the state. Trivandrum chapter’s coordinator Sabarinath V S said there were no eligibility criteria to join the group except for an interest in the quiz.
Membership is free of cost. “This is more of an informal group. The members are connected through WhatsApp and Facebook,” says Sabarinath who is a student of BA International Relations at the Central University’s School of Global Studies in Thiruvananthapuram. The Trivandrum chapter holds its monthly meetings at the Civil Service Institute campus adjacent to the Lourdes Forane Church at PMG Junction. “Our members include school and college students, teachers, civil service aspirants and retired government employees. All of them have one thing in common - a quest for knowledge,” he adds. After its formation, the group met twice. The topics would range from epics like Mahabharata to international politics, business, Indian literature or science and technology.
