KOCHI: A teacher by profession, Syed Shiyaz Mirza also nurses a passion for photography and travel. Being one among the few who won the title of Google’s trusted photographer, he recently led a photography workshop which was conducted in the capital city. The one-day-long theatre workshop organised by Kalam founded by Theatre personality Prashanth Narayanan, dealt with basic photography skills and demonstrations. From young students to those in their sixties, around twelve people participated in the event aimed at amateurs, says Syed. He said, “The event was divided into two sessions.

The first one concentrated on basic tips in photography and the second one dealt with 360 degree photography.”Speaking about what 360 degree photography is all about, he adds,”In fact, anyone can take a 360 degree photograph. It is easier still to take on through a professional camera with spherical lense frames suited for it. Unfortunately, the camera which has a 180 degree lense on either sides allowing it to take a 360 degree shot in one click, is expensive.”

Stating that there are certain tips and criteria which needs to be met for a photograph to fit the bill, the vlogger also notes that such photos can also be taken through a mobile phone, though it requires an effort. Elaborating more on the features of the camera Syed says, “With the help of high end phones one can actually take similar photos, though it takes around ten to fifteen minutes to come up with a single frame. Also, it requires a number of clicks and one has to see to it that there are no errors, for instance repetitive motions.”

The event ended with a photowalk at the Valiyathura old harbour bridge, with a demonstration of a 360 degree photograph, which was uploaded on Google. He winds up, “I want more people to come up with attempts at 360-degree photography.” Syed, a teacher, is a self-styled vlogger who keeps uploading videos in his youtube channel.
