KOCHI: The photographs exhibited at the Ruby Jubilee Hall in Kochi give an in-depth and eye-opening detail of the personal and professional life of military people. The images are part of the Military Photography Exhibition jointly organised by Southern Naval Command and Ernakulam Press Club as part of the Navy Week celebration.Commander Sridhar Warrier, chief PRO of the Southern Naval Command said this is the eighth edition of the exhibition and consists of 84 photos.

“The photos are exclusively taken by photo-journalists during military functions or activities. Only photos captured from November 2016 till December 2017 are exhibited here”, he said. The photos that have been exhibited elsewhere or awarded have not been displayed here, he added.


Each photo had a story to tell and looked lively. One was a few school-going girls holding the Navy Cap with excitement on their face. Photos of senior citizens from old-age home enjoying their visit at Naval Base, military person’s training session demonstrations of military activities including firing, helicopters flying,  and injured army men being carried by his fellow mates are some of the pictures that caught the attention of the visitors. The common man admiring the settings of the Naval Base during their visit to the place have also been captured and displayed in the exhibition.Majority of the photos are related to Navy along with a few pictures from other military wings.

Arun Nair, assistant PRO said 36 entries from all over India have been exhibited. “There have been entries from Mumbai, Calcutta and Chennai entries,” he said. The exhibition will be shifted to Centre Square Mall after Friday. Commander Warrier said the best photo will be awarded on Saturday evening at a small ceremony to be held at the mall. He noted that the jury has already visited the exhibition on Wednesday to judge the photos.The exhibition will continue in the Centre Square Mall for three more days before concluding on December 3.
