KOCHI: Two persons, including a civil police officer, died and another person was severely injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a tipper lorry at Puthencruz on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi NH on Tuesday. According to a police officer, Eldo Joseph, 39, a CPO with the Aluva police telecommunications station of Karikkanakudi, Nellad, and his father-in-law Abraham, 62, are the deceased. Eldo’s wife Jancy, 35, suffered serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
According to the police officer, the mishap occurred at Mananthadom at noon. “The car, while trying to overtake another vehicle, hit the tipper lorry coming from the opposite direction. All the three in the car suffered serious injuries. Eldo died on the spot while Abraham succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital. His wife suffered leg fracture,” the officer said. A case under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) was registered. The bodies have been kept at the Kolenchery Medical College Hospital.
