KOCHI: A youth hailing from Kozhikode was arrested on Wednesday from near the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium at Kaloor here by Excise sleuths who seized five kg of ganja from him. The arrested is Sanal Raj, 22 of Karipat House, Feroke, officers said."The youth brought in narcotic substances in large quantities from Andhra Pradesh by concealing them in secret chambers of a car. He then sold the same at the rate of `20,000 per kg to customers across the state. We got a tip-off and arrested him when he arrived here to sell the substance," said T S Sasikumar, Circle Inspector, Ernakulam Excise Department.
During interrogation, the youth admitted to have sold hashish oil and banned drugs, besides ganja in large quantities earlier too."He was operating the business with the help of an Aluva-based 'quotation' gang which owns over 10 vehicles. He also confessed to having brought in hypnotic drug nitrazepam in large quantities from one Sunpharma Laboratories in Jammu and Kashmir to supply the same among school and college students here. We've sought legal opinion on lodging a case against the pharma company," the officer said.
